History:

2005:  With a healthy cycling habit, two jobs and a baby on the way I decided it was time to stop working for someone else so I could have the cash to pay large markups for bike parts that I wouldn't have the time to ride.  Thus was born the concept of Goose Creek Cycle an online / phone order shop that could deliver great prices and courier delivery to the local market and great prices for the rest of the world.

2006: The Shop came online Jan 1 and we wobbled our way into the cycling world. With an inventory of around thirty items and one January sale, things shakey to say the least. Despite slow sales we jumped on board with Sponsoring the Agisko/Viner p/b Kinetic Koffee team and began getting our fingers into the market. By years end, things were looking better. We were aproved to sell products from SRAM, Viner and FRM, and began adding some manufacturer direct accounts so we cound provide better value for our customers.
2007 Highlights:
The Goose Creek Cycle Racing Team bursts onto the scene
Spiuk and Schwalbe come on board

2008 Highlights:
Our first real retail store opens in La Grange prompting the addition of a number of new lines of bikes and products
Mid season we expanded into skateboard sales to supliment cycling products.
Fed largely by the sale of Derailleur Hangers, Goose Creek Cycle became the #1 online seller of Wheels Manufacturing products.

Environmental Responsibility

It is our philosophy that the less of our natural resources we use, the better it is for our business, the country, and the world.  The following is a short list of some of the things that we do and are working on.

1. To date we use roughly 95% reused packaging.  This means that your purchase will either come in a box that was mailed to us, used to contain the shoes I bought last weekend or was a left over from a shipment that a local retail store took in.  So don't be surprised if your box shows up in a box that looks to be from dog bones and packaged with shredded phone bills (go ahead, tape them together and make a payment, we dare you) or crumpled up back issues of Bike Magazine. If you see packing peanuts, it is because someone else mailed them to us first.
Note: in October of '07 we changed this claim from 100% reused to roughly 95% reused this is to account for two new developements. The first is the use of Priority mail boxes. For heavier items like Stans solution, we use flat rate boxes which are required to receive those rates. We have also started to use a small number of other priority boxes because we find that our boxes are often treated as parcal post even when we paid for priority. Despite this change all of the internal packing material and most of our boxes remain reused.

2. Promotion of Cycling as an alternate form  transportation

For now all we can do is give coupons and cool discounts to people we see out riding, but as we grow, expect to see donations to various projects that will help create bike paths, provide bike racks, etc.

3. Recycling- Well, we do it.  Is there anything more to say here?
