CourseWeather looks like it will rain the night before and in the AM but stop before the racing starts.
So while the course will be wet, we should be ok from a hypothermia standpoint. Nevertheless we have redesigned the course to take
out long fast tar sections and put in more tough riding that will make you work harder for slower speeds. This should help keep riders warmer, despite
potentially being cold and wet. For those of you who raced the first race, immagine that course backwards without the road sections and you pretty much have it.
Junior Races will be 30 min
Cat 3 / Citizen race will be 30min
Cat 2 Races will be 40 min
Cat 1 Races will be 40 min
Timing There will be a clock visible to the
riders at each lap. Each race has a set time and you must start and complete as many laps as possible in that time. If the clock at the Finish line
shows a time less than the length of your race when you cross the line, you must go out on another lap. If the clock shows a time greater than
the length of your race when you cross it you will finish on that lap. For example if two riders are 10 seconds apart in a 30 minute race. The riders are on their 3rd lap they come to the end of the race. When the first rider crosse the finish at 29:55 he will be expected to go
out on another lap. The second rider will cross the finish line at 30:05 and be expected to finish. The first rider then must simply complete the lap to beat the rider behind. A score for this would look like this:
Rider 1, 4 laps 39:02
Rider 2, 3 laps 30:05
In this case rider 1 wins because (although it took him longer to finish) he completed more laps.
An altenative to this would be if rider 1 approached the finish, and not wanting to do another lap stops and waits 5 seconds before crossing the line. This is risk as it allows the rider behind to catch up and possibly pass him right at the finish, but assuming paces stay constant, this finish would look like this:
Rider 1, 3 laps, 30:00
Rider 2, 3 laps, 30:05
In this case Rider 1 wins because the two riders completed the same number of laps, but rider 1 finished them faster.
Riders final lap time must be recorded at or within 20 minutes after the time cut off or the rider will be considered not to have finished (DNF)
Lapped riders will finish on same lap as leaders
